The weekend edit #10

Happy Valentines Day readers! Will you be celebrating today? There are so many love hearts and endless adverts that I always wonder how many people really celebrate it. James and I are mainly pottering about this weekend as it’s the first in our new flat without plans or move-related tasks. We’ve agreed to cook a meal for each other today and I’ve spotted this riverside walk from Colliers Wood to the River Thames I’m hoping we’ll try.

So for those not going all out for Valentines but still looking for something nice to do in London, here’s this weekend’s edit.

Indulge with a few fine chocolates from Paul A Young or the best black forest gateaux from another Paul – Paul Rhodes.

Enjoy a long wander. Riverside by the Thames or the New River Walk, canalside down Regent’s Canal or around an undiscovered park or garden like Holland Park or the Old English Garden. You never know how London might surprise you with its stunning architecture or a beautiful new find!

Eat one of the 50 best brunches in London.

Rustle up two of these Chocolate, Summer Berry & Amaretti Cheesecake Cups by Rachel Phipps, the latest food and restaurant blog on my reading list.

Be a tourist for the day and visit a London icon like Tower Bridge, The Shard (or one of its great restaurants/bars), Houses of Parliament (a stunning building and interesting tour even if you’re not into politics), St Paul’s Cathedral (amazing views and architecture), Monument (city views at a bargain price, close to Borough Market too!).

Of course I picked this week’s snapshot from Instagram in honour of the day and for being the most classy marketing I have seen in London. You can always rely on Fortnum & Mason for something tasteful! (Including the treats inside!)

I hope you have a great weekend with the people who mean the most to you or you simply just like spending time with!
