The weekend edit #3

As the first week of November has passed it feels like Christmas has landed in London and “winter is coming” (said in your best Game of Thrones voice). It started with Oxford Street’s Christmas lights being turned on Wednesday, followed by seasonal adverts from John Lewis on Thursday and M&S on Friday. At the same time the temperature plummeted and it was time to wrap up warm, eat hearty meals and drink hot chocolates.

I’m not quite ready to embrace Christmas yet so this weekend’s edit is just a few ideas for filling a much less festive weekend.

Eat at Dishoom’s new King Cross restaurant, there’s 50% off food and drink during their soft launch until 19 November 2014. (I’ve still not enjoyed a Bombay-style dinner at Dishoom so this is added incentive to finally go!)

Drink one of these hot cocktails the Evening Standard tracked down this week to keep the winter chills at bay.

Enjoy afternoon tea and a tour of the city in the warmth of a classic red London bus on BB Bakery’s afternoon tea bus tour. You can read a review of the tea and tour by Lady Loves Cake here.

Buy as much Iberian ham as your heart desires from Enrique Tomas (discovered on Instagram via A Spoonful of Sugar).

Book your tickets for Skate at Somerset House before they sell out. It’s a well known destination and my favourite ice rink in London. This year they’ve teamed up with Fortnum and Mason to offer tasty treats and teas. (Londonist has a list of alternative ice rinks here).

What are your plans for the weekend? Are you embracing Christmas early?
