Top picks for the bank holiday ~ May 2013

How quickly has the second bank holiday weekend of the month come around?! You’ve got to love May for it’s shorter weeks and long weekends! I spent the first bank holiday by the seaside in Devon so it felt right to spend the second in London. Whilst I’ll be ticking many things off my top 10 ways to enjoy the bank holiday, I’ve been scouring the internet for a few extra things to do in the city. So I thought I’d share my top picks!

Street food – You’ll easily be able to get your mouth around some tasty food this weekend. There’s Feast in the Fields over at London Fields, Munch Street Food at More London and my favourite Feast Back Yard and BBQ Keg party.

Exhibitions – If you’re into fashion and craftmanship you’re in for a treat. Somerset House launched an exhibition of works by the acclaimed photographer Erwin Blumenfeld just this week. The Saatchi Gallery is currently home to the Festival des Métiers, showcasing the fine craftsmanship of luxury accessories brand Hermes (you can even see the craftsmen in action!). The best thing is, both of these exhibitions are free!

If fashion isn’t your thing it’s the last weekend you can see Man Ray and Lichtenstein.

Sweet treats – You won’t be surprised that I have a weakness for good chocolate, so I love this list of London’s best chocolate shops by the Londonist.

Cocktails – The Hoxton Hotel is hosting The Gin Garden all weekend. Pray for sunshine and grab a G&T.

Coffee – I’ve always got new coffee shops on my list. I’m toying between Embassy East, Prufrock, Monocle and Freestate Coffee.
