It’s no secret that I have a real sweet tooth, it’s probably my biggest weakness. I just can’t say no to a slice of cake or a bit of chocolate! My friends know this well and at Christmas I got a brilliant book – Great Cake Places. I was having a little browse last weekend, trying to decide if there was anything worthy of a visit soon.
As Mother’s Day is at the weekend and the Easter Bank holiday is not too far away (which is the biggest sugar indulgence of the year after Christmas) I thought I’d share five of my favourite cake places, a couple from the book and a couple I’ve recently stumbled across.

Coco Maya – Hidden amongst the lovely little boutiques of Connaught Village in West London you’ll find this bakery and chocolatier. It looks like heaven and this review from A Girl A Style will have your sweet tooth aching in seconds.

Ladurée, Harrods – One of the few places in London where you can pretend you’re in Paris and devour all the finest macarons from across the Channel. There’s a cafe in Covent Garden and Burlington Arcade too but Harrods definitely looks like the finest option.

Ottolenghi – I’ve heard so much about how great Ottolenghi’s cakes are that I really must find an excuse to pay a visit. There’s a few outlets across London so I’m hoping that it shouldn’t be too hard to fit it in!

Brownie Box – If there’s a brownie on the dessert menu it’s going to be brought to my table. I love them! Especially warm with a scoop of ice cream… So imagine how excited I was that there’s a cafe that sells not only the original but also a peanut butter chocolate chip brownie, red velvet brownie and a brownie muffin to name a few! I’ll definitely be checking them out next time I’m in Earls Court.
Do you have a sweet tooth? Have you tried any of these cake places? Or do you have another great place to share?
