We can all breathe a sigh of relief that January is almost at an end. No matter what this first month of the year does, it’s always going to be the one that gives you the feeling that winter is NEVER going to end. I for one will be greeting February with open arms this week, particularly as I say goodbye to the stress of finding a new home and hello to a fresh start south of the river. I’m very excited about having a new part of town to explore!
But as I look back over the last few weeks, despite getting a bad case of the winter blues (and an illness to match), I’ve still done the things I love and squeezed in a few new places along the way. In the meantime London continued to prove that it pretty much looks good in any weather!
The return to work in 2013 meant starting the day at sunrise again (it’s a lot easier when it’s pretty!). I don’t like to start the weekend at the same time though so I sought beauty in the daylight with another visit to Columbia Road Flower Market. Dry January lasted just 10 days as the stress of trying to find a new home in London took its toll. It started with red wine and continued with happy hour cocktails at The Loft in Clapham.
As the month went by the winter weather swept through. I took a stroll through Little Venice one chilly lunchtime, the canal was almost frozen over and the smell of log fires filled the air. An idyllic winter setting.
Then the snow arrived, covering the city in a white cloak. I explored Greenwich Park on the first day but was struck down with an illness and so I enjoyed the best of the snow snaps indoors. As soon as I felt better I headed to Archer Street for a couple of cocktails before the epic packing mission began.
How has your January been? What are you looking forward to in February?
