A Merry Christmas in London

The Christmas build up in London is a whirlwind of evening drinks with friends, parties with colleagues and getting into as many festive events the city has to offer. This year has been one hectic month from start to finish.  For the last post of the year I thought I’d share how I’ve been getting in the festive spirit…

December began on a festive high with a Christmas jumper house warming.

Novelty jumpers, Christmas decorations, and all the classic songs.  It felt like Christmas Eve! A brilliant start to the month and I would definitely recommend organising one next year if you missed out this year.

The following day we took our first Christmas hangover to the city and toured all of London’s best Christmas lights.  Including, Regent Street…

Oxford Street and South Molton Street…

New Bond Street and Old Bond Street…

Winter Wonderland was the next big event in the calendar.  I’ve been every year since I moved to London and it seems to get bigger and crazier each year.

But it’s definitely worth visiting at least once to enjoy the bright lights of the festive fair.

Get warm in the Bavarian Village with few cups of gluhwein or pints of German beer.

Take a ride on a roller coaster (if you’re feeling brave), try to win a cuddly toy, pick up a gift or grab a bite to eat.

After the work Christmas party, a festive cocktail with Lucinda and dinner with good friends, I had just enough energy to enjoy a little spin on the Natural History Museum’s Ice Rink.

It’s one of my favourite events of the season.  There’s something a little magical about the Museum too, a majestic building that has a resemblance to Hogwarts (in my opinion).  It looks spectacular lit up and decorated with a Christmas tree.

The Christmas holiday has arrived just in time for me to catch up on lost sleep, read a few books, satisfy all my sweet tooth’s wildest dreams, eat well and drink until I’m merry.  I usually go back to Birmingham, but this year I’m staying in city and we’re all heading to my sisters.  It’s going to be a great holiday and a much needed break from the usual city life madness.

Have you enjoyed the build up to Christmas and are all set for the holiday?

Just want to add a big THANK YOU to everyone who reads (and hopefully enjoys) This City Life London!  I hope you have a very Merry Christmas!!!
