Five things I love about London

Last week I celebrated my third anniversary of living in London.  I can’t believe how quickly the time has gone by, and yet just how much there is still to discover!  But what I have come to realise is that London has become my home, a place I’m always happy to return to and somewhere I’ll be staying for a good few years to come.

Anniversaries always have the power to make me reminisce about the good times and great things I’ve discovered in the years that have gone by, so I thought I’d share five things I love about London.

Having London on my doorstep was the main reason I wanted to live in this city.  Brilliant museums and art galleries, iconic views, stunning parks, historic shopping havens and calming canals near the office, what more could you want? You can never have an excuse to be bored here.

Londoners often get a bad name for being cold and unfriendly but as long as you don’t get in our way during rush hour or try to talk to us in the morning, you’ll meet people from all walks of life and build long-term friendships.  I’m lucky to have my sister in town (top right) and partners in crime from university (Lucinda – bottom right brunette) and my hometown Birmingham (Lucy – bottom right blondie).  I’ve also made so many great friends since I’ve moved here.

You’ll find style on every corner in London so it’s no surprise that it’s one of the most stylish cities in the world and home to the best fashion weeks of the year.  I find a lot of wardrobe inspiration here and one day I will get to attend London Fashion Week.

… and coffee.

No matter what your favourite food is or whether you love tea or coffee, London always has an answer to satisfy your appetite. You can definitely count on this city for good coffee, cupcakes, Afternoon Tea, pizza, burgers and my favourite cuisine – Thai. It’s no secret that I love a good cocktail and since I started This City Life I’ve enjoyed A LOT of delicious cocktail hours.  The best thing is that I’m starting to realise that I’ve only just scratched the surface of some of the finest places in town and new places are popping up all the time.  This can only mean I’ve still got plenty of new cocktails to try!
