The Bonfire Night essentials

I love Bonfire Night. The glow of a roaring fire, the smell of burning wood filling the air, everyone waiting for the sky to be lit by sparkling fireworks. It’s definitely a winter highlight and I think us Brits do the event justice every year. As the Guy Fawkes celebrations kick off this weekend I thought I’d share my Bonfire Night essentials.

1. Find your nearest bonfire

Time Out London have a pretty comprehensive list of bonfire celebrations taking place across the city and most of them are free to attend.

2. Wrap up warm in your winter woolies

Standing outside in November means dressing up in your warmest wardrobe items is a must. I love bobble hats and mittens and this coordinating set from H&M looks great.

3. Dig out your flask and take a hot drink with you

Mulled wine is such a delicious winter warmer, great to keep you spritely in the face of chilly of temperatures. I usually get mine from M&S but this recipe from Kitchen Confidant looks pretty tasty and worth making yourself.

For those who don’t fancy wine, mulled cider is a great alternative. Martha Stewart’s Apple-pie spiced cider definitely got my attention.

4. Eat your favourite winter treats

For me this means hot dogs and toffee apples. The Londoner’s marmalade sausage dogs sound perfect for Bonfire Night and if you like being creative try using twigs for your toffee apples like Allyson Baker.
