A whirlwind week in the city

Sometimes this city life sweeps you up off your feet and before you know it a week has disappeared and you’re already on Sunday with another week in sight.  I don’t know about you but this last week has been one of the busiest weeks I’ve had so far in London.  It really makes you realise how easy it would be to spend every day racing through your emails and every night dining out or enjoying one of the hundreds (probably thousands) of bars here.

Celebrations have been at the heart of it all and it’s been a great week with some great new finds so I thought I’d wrap a week in the city and give you a sneak peak at some of the posts coming up.

You can’t beat recommendations from established Londoners who’ve got beneath the city’s skin and Saska Graville has quite handily put a book full of them together for us.  I had a quick glance when it arrived on Monday and it definitely looks bookshelf worthy! I’ll be having a proper look through on a nice quiet evening this week.

Champagne has been a frequent feature with the celebration of a surprise wedding, my housemate’s 30th and the departure of a lovely colleague. The London Eye Champagne Experience on Tuesday has to be the biggest treat though, views of the city you’ll struggle to get elsewhere.

The Shard really has changed the city’s skyline!

I wandered past Gordon’s Wine Bar on my way home after the Eye, it’s definitely a place any wine drinker should find themselves heading to! Word of warning though, with a reputation and Embankment location it does get crowded.

Fernandez & Wells in Soho, would definitely be a good second option though it makes for enjoyable mid week (and leaving) drinks. Plus there’s some great places near by!

After plenty of wine the night before I soaked up the romance in St Pancras Station instead on Thursday.

It’s just so beautiful and I could definitely enjoy another lunch at The Booking Office, day dreaming for the afternoon….

About a summer where the sun shines like this all day instead of just a Thursday morning.

After a fun 30th Birthday meal at Cafe Pacifico on Thursday night, I was glad to have a Friday night at home!

How was your week? Have you made any new city discoveries recently?

Some great recommendations in here Laura! I’m going to have to add The Booking Office and Cafe Pacifico to my growing list of places to see. Luckily it was pay day today!
