The North London Vintage Market only comes about every month or so, meaning you have to grab your opportunity to pop down to St Mary’s Parish Church in Crouch End when you can. As a lovely free bank holiday Saturday presented itself this weekend it seemed like a good opportunity to pay a visit. n
This market is well-known in the London vintage scene and what you get for your £1.50 entry fee is a little spot of vintage heaven from some great vintage ventures. Their well chosen selections of home ware and clothing, displayed in a careful fashion, is a real testament to the skill needed to delve into the past and pull out the best bits for the 21st century.
Here are some of my favourite stalls which I think could bring a little more vintage character to your shelves or your style.
For items of interest for the home this stall was great and if you can’t make this market you can get your hands on similar items at the Antique Market held at Spitalfields every Thursday. A return visit to this market is definitely on the cards, I wasn’t aware it was open on so many other days of the week!
The clothing and accessories from Fiesta Vintage were lovely, seemed like good quality and sold at a pretty decent price. I was sad to be on a tight pre-payday budget but lucky for me she has an Etsy shop which I’ll be tracking down and you can also follow her vintage whereabouts on her Facebook page.
Vintage 2 also had some fine options for the wardrobe and mentioned that she also did the Clerkenwell Vintage Fashion Fair. This market has a great central location and with some of the big fashion publishers recommending a visit I’m thinking it could be a worthwhile weekend activity.
Accessorising your vintage look can be done here and I loved this collection from Love Vintage who have an awarding winning market in Wanstead (zone 4 of the central line).
Furniture and other household items can be found at this market.
Anyone remember these phones?? I’m sure we used to have one of these in our house when I was young!
If you’re feeling like you’ve missed out Saturday 2 June is the next market day so put it in your diary quick!
So are you a vintage fan? Or is contemporary more your thing? I think it’s always good to match the old and the new, I have to admit I struggle to put together a great all vintage look.
