The move from WordPress.com is complete so I can happily welcome you to This City Life’s permanent home! If you’re a regular reader you’ll notice that it pretty much looks the same as it was under its former online home and so you may be wondering why I made the move at all?
Well the simple reason is that a bit like Blogger after a few weeks I noticed some limitations. I’ve been reading a lot more blogs of late and I noticed some snazzy features about, unfortunately under wordpress.com once you have a theme you’re limited to that theme’s features and you can’t do too much tinkering which started to get a bit frustrating. I also found that I couldn’t find a way to apply Google Analytics which Blogger got me hooked on and which is a valuable tool for finding out how interesting you find my writing.
The other reason is that I’m keen to delve into the world of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), you see I quite like the idea of someone stumbling upon my honest reviews through the powers of Google and hopefully a straightforward web address is the start to doing just that.
As for life on the other side so far so good. I did make a bit of a silly mistake in thinking that exporting from wordpress.com meant it wiped out your site which it does not. So I’ve jumped in at the deep end and made a bit of a rapid move to the independent world of a .com site, left to figure out the imperfections on my own. Hopefully they’re unnoticeable but if you do spot the mistakes think of this recent tweet pic by Miranda Kerr:
If you’re bored with all this technological blog talk, business will be back to usual and thanks to this brief pause I’ve got a bit of a backlog of things to share!
