There’s nothing quite like the taste of a well-earned drink, particularly a flavoursome cocktail with a good friend. After a hectic week in and out of the office, it seemed only right to arrange a cocktail hour and release the week’s tensions.
We chose Adventure Bar in Clapham as it was convenient and I’m always happy to return to where I spent my first year in London. I’d not been there before which I can only guess was because I’d never ventured in that direction down Battersea Rise where you can find it.
It’s quite a small bar which helps add to the atmosphere, we went on a Friday and it was busy but not too full, the music was loud enough to enjoy it but not loud you couldn’t talk. The bartenders were friendly and willing to help, which is nice if you’re looking for a relaxing drink.
Happy hour runs from 5pm to 8pm which means cocktails are around £4/5 each. I was impressed that we were reminded about five minutes before the end of happy hour, I’ve never been reminded to save money in London before! We managed a couple of cocktails from the menu whilst we were there, my favourite was the rum-based Cuban Orange.
Overall, it was a nice bar for enjoying a cocktail hour with a friend. I saw a few couples in there and I don’t think it would be bad date option (except for on a Saturday when I hear it is much busier). There are other Adventure Bars in London and I’d be intrigued to know if they’re as enjoyable!
